Kendra made the top 4 in her Junior Novice class for 2004, and was invited to compete in the BC Southwest Zone Junior Handling finals in Cloverdale BC in February 2005.

Out of a choice of several dogs, she chose to handle Twix.
What a team! Kendra worked so well with Twix, and under the pressure of a judging panel, he performed better for Kendra than he does in the regular ring!
With her family there to cheer her on, Kendra won 1st place!

How It All Began....

In August 2003, seven year old Kendra Bird started out in junior handling by winning second place out of a large entry in her Junior Novice class (Victoria BC). Handling an adult Boxer, this was only Kendra's second time ever attending a dog show, let alone being on the inside of the ring, and she had no previous show handling experience other than watching Joanne training them at home. Her dog Pru (Ch. Kaboom’s Hearts on Fire) was very well behaved in amongst the other young juniors with their Toy breeds, and Kendra handled her like a pro.

In April 2004, Kendra handled another Kaboom Boxer, Ch. Kaboom’s Benjamin Brat, to a first place win amongst six other Junior Novice competitors in Chilliwack BC. In May 2004, Kendra won back-to-back firsts in Junior Novice on May 29 and again May 30 in Victoria BC, with a big fawn boy Ch. Kaboom’s Cookie Twix.

At age eight, Kendra was at it again in October 2004 with a third place win at the Tradex Lower Mainland Dog Fanciers show in Abbotsford BC handling Twix, out of a very competitive Junior Novice entry of ten. Kendra also got an opportunity that weekend to handle a Smooth Fox Terrier for InStyle Reg'd., but really prefers the Boxers. Twix also loves to perform for Kendra, and the two make a great combination in and out of the ring. Twix is very patient and attentive with Kendra and will do pretty much whatever she asks of him.

Kendra is going into grade 6 in Shawnigan Lake BC, and in addition to raising and training puppies Kendra also enjoys theatre, music, horseback riding, and sports.
